Parish History

The Long Island Mar Thoma Church, New York was officially formed on July 3rd 1987 as per the Kalpana dated 30th June 1987, of our late Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Metropolitan. The inaugural worship service was conducted at Nassau Lutheran School Auditorium, Mineola, New York by the Metropolitan. The Place of worship was subsequently moved to the church building owned by The Episcopal Church, known as The Church of the Redeemer in Merrick, Long Island, New York which we subsequently bought in 1994. The Church which started with 57 families has grown to a strength of 210 families as of now.
